Nodex
Terms
Last updated: 3 July 2026 These Terms govern your access to and use of Nodex, including the Nodex iOS/iPadOS app, Nodex Premium, the Nodex website, documentation, support, security-reporting routes and related services. Nodex is a local-first, agentless Linux server-monitoring tool. It connects directly from your Apple device to servers that you configure over SSH. It can display metrics, service state, logs, container information, alerts, history and operational tools. It can also prepare or issue administrative actions such as service actions, container actions and diagnostic/support-bundle collection. Because Nodex can access real infrastructure, you must only use it for systems you own, administer or have explicit authority to access.

Acceptance
By downloading, installing, accessing or using Nodex, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use Nodex.
By accessing, browsing, or continuing to use the Nodex website, you also accept the use of cookies, analytics, measurement, attribution, and similar tracking technologies as described in the Privacy Policy. These technologies are active by default from your first visit; no cookie consent banner is displayed. If you do not accept them, block or delete them using your browser controls or stop using the website.

What Nodex is
Nodex is software for monitoring and administering Linux servers over SSH. It is intended to run locally on your Apple device and connect directly to target hosts configured by you.
Nodex may support features such as:
- SSH connection management;
- host-key verification and known-host trust records;
- CPU, memory, disk, temperature and network metrics;
- systemd service status;
- recent logs and journal views;
- alerts and health findings;
- metrics history and CSV export;
- Docker/Podman container listing, stats, logs, events and actions;
- support-bundle generation;
- widgets;
- Shortcuts, Siri/App Intents and other Apple system surfaces;
- StoreKit subscriptions for premium features.
Unless Magrathean expressly offers a separate hosted service, Nodex is not a cloud monitoring service, relay, managed security service, backup service, incident-response service, high-availability service or substitute for professional infrastructure administration.
Local-first architecture and no default Magrathean cloud collection
By default, Nodex connects directly from your device to your configured SSH hosts. Magrathean does not receive your server list, SSH credentials, private keys, passphrases, sudo passwords, host metrics, logs, command output, service state, container state, alerts, history or exports unless you choose to send material to Magrathean, for example in a support request or security report.
You remain responsible for your device, local app data, backups, iCloud settings, MDM settings, target servers, logs, credentials, user permissions and exports.
Licence
Subject to these Terms and Apple’s applicable rules, Magrathean grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Nodex for lawful administration of systems you are authorised to access.
You may not:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, host or distribute Nodex except as expressly allowed by these Terms or applicable law;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive source code except to the extent that applicable law prohibits this restriction;
- remove copyright, trademark, attribution, security or proprietary notices;
- bypass licence, subscription, entitlement, security or feature-access controls;
- use Nodex to build a competing product or hosted service;
- use Nodex in a way that breaches Apple’s rules, third-party licences or applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory software-interoperability rights you have under applicable law.
Ownership
Nodex, the Nodex app, app name, source code, object code, architecture, user interface, graphics, icons, website, documentation, build assets, copy, designs, trademarks, trade dress, know-how and all related intellectual property are owned by MAGRATHEAN UK LTD or its licensors.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Third-party software, libraries, frameworks, operating systems, trademarks and services remain the property of their respective owners. References to Linux, Docker, Podman, systemd, OpenSSH, Apple, iPhone, iPad, iOS or other third-party names are descriptive only and do not imply endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.
Feedback
If you send feedback, ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests or improvement proposals, you grant Magrathean a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free licence to use, copy, modify, publish, distribute, commercialise and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation.
Do not send confidential information as feedback unless we have agreed a separate written confidentiality arrangement.
Eligibility and accounts
Nodex does not currently require a Magrathean cloud account for local monitoring.
You must be old enough to use the App Store, make purchases and lawfully administer the systems you connect to Nodex. Nodex is not directed to children or minors.
You must provide accurate information when contacting Magrathean, submitting security reports, requesting support or making business enquiries.
Authorised systems only
You may use Nodex only to connect to systems that you own, administer or have explicit authority from the lawful owner to access.
You must not use Nodex for:
- unauthorised access;
- credential theft;
- password guessing;
- key theft;
- privilege escalation without permission;
- unauthorised monitoring;
- illegal surveillance;
- exfiltration;
- malware activity;
- denial-of-service activity;
- bypassing access controls;
- attacking systems, networks or users;
- violating employment, customer, hosting, cloud, security or acceptable-use rules.
Unauthorised access to computer systems may be a criminal offence under the UK Computer Misuse Act 1990, the US Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of Nodex is lawful.
Server-side personal data and confidentiality
Server logs, usernames, account names, process lists, service names, container names, image names, URLs, hostnames, IP addresses, customer identifiers and command output may contain personal data, confidential information, trade secrets, regulated data or third-party data.
You are responsible for:
- having a lawful basis and authority to process server-side data;
- giving required notices to employees, users, customers and other affected people;
- complying with data-protection, employment, telecoms, security, confidentiality and customer obligations;
- minimising data viewed, exported or shared;
- reviewing and redacting screenshots, logs, CSVs and support bundles before disclosure;
- ensuring that any disclosure to Magrathean or a third party is lawful and authorised.
Magrathean does not act as your data processor for local-only server data unless we enter into a separate written data-processing agreement.
Credentials, keys and device security
You are responsible for:
- using strong, unique credentials;
- using SSH keys and passphrases appropriately;
- rotating keys and credentials when needed;
- limiting SSH accounts to the permissions needed;
- using least privilege;
- configuring sudo safely;
- securing your device with passcode, biometric protection, OS updates and appropriate lock settings;
- controlling iCloud, backup and MDM settings;
- revoking access when devices are lost, users leave or credentials may be compromised.
Nodex may store credentials and private key material locally using Apple Keychain where supported, but no storage method is risk-free. If your device, backups, Apple ID, MDM profile or server accounts are compromised, Nodex data may be at risk.
Host-key trust
Nodex may help verify host keys and warn about unknown or changed host keys. You are responsible for verifying host-key fingerprints and trust decisions.
A host-key change may be legitimate, for example after a rebuild, or may indicate a man-in-the-middle attack or other compromise. Do not approve host-key changes unless you have verified them through a trusted channel.
Operational actions and consequences
Nodex may allow you to run or prepare actions such as:
- service start, stop, restart, enable or disable;
- container start, stop, restart, remove or related actions;
- log retrieval;
- support-bundle generation;
- uptime checks;
- health checks;
- storage, security-update or process inspection;
- other remote commands or operational diagnostics.
You are solely responsible for all operational consequences, including downtime, data loss, misconfiguration, degraded performance, failed deployments, service-level breaches, security incidents, customer impact, regulatory impact and costs.
Before using an action on production systems, verify the target host, user, service, container, command, privileges and timing. Maintain backups, rollback plans and incident procedures.
Support bundles, exports and screenshots
Nodex can create exports and support material that may contain sensitive infrastructure data.
A support bundle may include, depending on your choices and server capabilities:
- kernel and uptime information;
- operating-system release information;
- memory and disk information;
- failed systemd units;
- recent journal/log output;
- Docker/Podman container listings and stats;
- local Nodex diagnostics;
- action transcripts;
- command metrics;
- SSH diagnostics;
- hostnames, ports, usernames, service names, container names, image names, timestamps and errors.
You must review, minimise and redact exports, screenshots, logs and support bundles before sharing them with Magrathean or any third party.
Do not send secrets, private keys, passphrases, tokens, customer data, regulated data, production logs or third-party personal data unless Magrathean has agreed a secure route and scope in advance.
Magrathean may refuse, delete or not process support material that appears excessive, unlawful, unsafe, secret-bearing or outside the agreed scope.
Widgets, Shortcuts and Apple system surfaces
If you enable widgets, Shortcuts, Siri/App Intents or other Apple system surfaces, Nodex may cache or display server names, hostnames, groups, tags, service names, service states, container IDs, container names, images, status, health findings, widget snapshots and pending routes on-device.
These surfaces may be visible in places controlled by Apple’s operating system, including widgets, Shortcuts, Siri suggestions, system search, shared-device contexts, lock-screen widgets or backups depending on your settings.
You are responsible for deciding whether these surfaces are appropriate for your environment.
Shortcuts or App Intents may open Nodex and prepare a route or action. You remain responsible for verifying and confirming any operational action before it is performed.
Trials, renewals, refunds and price changes
Trials, renewals, cancellations, refunds and price changes are handled through Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms, App Store rules and local consumer law.
Magrathean may change premium features, subscription offerings, pricing, trial availability or product identifiers from time to time. Where Apple requires notice or consent for a subscription change, Apple’s process applies.
If you cancel a subscription, you may retain access until the end of the then-current period unless Apple’s rules provide otherwise.
No emergency, safety-critical or high-risk use
Nodex is not designed for emergency response, safety-critical control, life-support systems, medical systems, aircraft, nuclear facilities, weapons systems, critical national infrastructure operations, industrial control systems or environments where failure could cause death, personal injury, severe property damage or severe environmental damage.
Do not rely on Nodex as your only monitoring, backup, alerting, incident-response, security, compliance or disaster-recovery control.
Availability, updates and changes
Nodex may change over time. We may add, remove, suspend, restrict or modify features, supported platforms, subscriptions, documentation, pricing, website content or support routes.
We do not guarantee that Nodex will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every Linux distribution, SSH server, shell configuration, container runtime, network environment, App Store region, Apple device or operating-system version.
Updates may be required for continued operation, security, compatibility or App Store compliance.
Compatibility and third-party systems
Nodex depends on Apple devices and operating systems, Apple App Store services, SSH, your network, your configured servers, server packages, container runtimes, shell behaviour, permissions, logs and other third-party systems.
Magrathean is not responsible for:
- Apple outages or App Store issues;
- server outages;
- hosting provider issues;
- network or VPN failures;
- firewall rules;
- SSH server configuration;
- sudo configuration;
- shell incompatibility;
- missing Linux tools;
- container runtime behaviour;
- log format changes;
- third-party API or package changes;
- data loss or service disruption caused by your systems or providers.
Security reports
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in Nodex, contact [email protected].
Security testing must be lawful, controlled and limited. You must not:
- access systems or data you do not own or have written authority to test;
- disrupt Magrathean, Apple, users or third-party systems;
- exfiltrate personal data, secrets, keys or production data;
- publish exploit details before Magrathean has had a reasonable opportunity to investigate and remediate;
- use vulnerability reporting as a threat, extortion attempt or demand for payment.
Please include enough detail for us to reproduce and understand the issue, but do not send secrets, credentials, private keys or full production logs.
Acceptable use
You must not use Nodex or the Nodex website to:
- breach any law or regulation;
- infringe intellectual property rights;
- violate privacy, confidentiality or data-protection rights;
- transmit malware or harmful code;
- harass, abuse, threaten or defame anyone;
- overload, disrupt or interfere with services;
- scrape or misuse the website;
- bypass technical controls;
- misrepresent your identity or authority;
- violate export-control, sanctions or restricted-party rules;
- use Nodex for illegal surveillance or unauthorised monitoring;
- assist any third party in doing the above.
Export control and sanctions
You must comply with applicable export-control, sanctions, import and technology-transfer laws.
You must not use, download, export, re-export or transfer Nodex in violation of UK, US, EU, UN or other applicable sanctions or export-control rules, or for prohibited end uses.
You represent that you are not located in, organised under the laws of, ordinarily resident in, or controlled by a person in a sanctioned territory or on a restricted-party list where your use of Nodex would be unlawful.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Magrathean handles personal data.
Because Nodex is local-first, Magrathean usually cannot see, correct, export or delete data that remains only on your device or on your servers. You are responsible for your local app data, target server data, backups, logs, exports and shared support material.
Third-party terms
Your use of Nodex may involve third-party terms, including Apple terms, App Store rules, Linux distribution licences, SSH/OpenSSH terms, Docker/Podman terms, systemd terms, hosting-provider terms and open-source software licences.
You are responsible for complying with third-party terms that apply to your systems and use.
Third-party components included with Nodex remain subject to their own licences and notices.
Apple App Store terms
Where Nodex is downloaded from the Apple App Store:
- these Terms are between you and Magrathean, not Apple;
- Apple is not responsible for Nodex or its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Nodex;
- Apple is responsible for App Store payment processing, refunds and subscription management under Apple’s rules;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms to the extent required by Apple’s terms and may enforce them against you;
- your use of Nodex must comply with Apple’s App Store terms and usage rules.
If Apple’s mandatory terms conflict with these Terms for App Store distribution, Apple’s mandatory terms apply to that extent.
Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory rights under the laws of your country that cannot be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits those rights.
For UK consumers, this may include rights relating to digital content and unfair terms under UK consumer law.
For EU consumers, this may include mandatory rights under EU and Member State consumer law.

- you will ensure that your use complies with data-protection, employment, monitoring, confidentiality, cyber-security, customer and regulatory obligations;
- Nodex is not a managed service, professional advice, cyber-security service, audit service or compliance certification.
Disclaimers
Nodex is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Magrathean disclaims all warranties, representations and conditions, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, compatibility, security and error-free operation.

- prevent downtime, data loss or security incidents;
- be compatible with every server, distribution, shell, runtime or network;
- preserve all history, logs, metrics or exports;
- operate without interruption or error;

Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- deliberate misconduct;
- breach of statutory rights that cannot be excluded or limited;
- any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
For consumers, Magrathean does not exclude or limit liability in a way that would be unlawful under applicable consumer law.
For business users, and subject to the paragraph above, Magrathean is not liable for:
- indirect, consequential, special, incidental, exemplary or punitive loss;
- loss of profit;
- loss of revenue;
- loss of business;
- loss of goodwill;
- loss of anticipated savings;
- business interruption;
- loss, corruption or disclosure of data;
- server downtime;
- service-level breaches;
- security incidents;
- unauthorised access;
- credential compromise;
- customer claims;
- regulatory penalties;
- costs of substitute services;
- damage caused by commands, service actions, container actions, sudo use, support bundles, exports, incorrect configuration, user error, third-party systems or target-server behaviour.
For business users, Magrathean’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Nodex is limited to the greater of:
- the amount you paid to Magrathean or Apple for Nodex in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability; or
- £50.
Indemnity for business use
If you use Nodex for business, professional, employment, customer, managed-service or organisational purposes, you agree to indemnify Magrathean against claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from:
- your unauthorised or unlawful use of Nodex;
- your access to systems without sufficient authority;
- your server commands, service actions, container actions or sudo use;
- your exports, support bundles, screenshots, logs or disclosures;
- your breach of data-protection, confidentiality, employment, monitoring, cyber-security or customer obligations;
- your breach of these Terms;
- your infringement of third-party rights.
This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by Magrathean’s breach of these Terms, negligence or unlawful conduct.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Nodex, support or related services if:
- you breach these Terms;
- you misuse Nodex;
- your use creates legal, security, operational or reputational risk;
- Apple, a court, regulator or law requires it;
- your subscription expires, is cancelled, refunded, revoked or cannot be verified;
- continuing to provide access would be unlawful or commercially impractical.
You may stop using Nodex at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription through Apple.
Sections intended to survive termination will continue, including ownership, restrictions, operational responsibility, privacy, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law and dispute provisions.
Legal hierarchy, mandatory rights and safer-use controls
These Terms govern ordinary use of Nodex and related websites, apps, public tools, documentation and support routes. They do not replace any signed master services agreement, statement of work, order form, data-processing agreement, enterprise licence, security addendum, app-store rule, open-source licence or platform term that expressly applies to a specific transaction or deployment. If there is a conflict, the more specific written agreement or mandatory platform rule controls the relevant issue.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, statutory consumer rights, data-protection rights, app-store rights that cannot be waived, or any other mandatory legal protection. Any indemnity, liability cap, warranty exclusion, termination right or use restriction is intended to apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law. Business-use indemnities do not apply to consumers except where mandatory law permits and the claim arises from intentional, unlawful or clearly unauthorised misuse.
You must not submit passwords, bearer tokens, private keys, recovery codes, .env files, raw tenant exports, production personal-data dumps, unredacted footage, confidential third-party data, special-category data, criminal-offence data, children’s data, or customer secrets through ordinary contact or support routes unless we have agreed a secure written handling process. We may reject, delete, quarantine, return or restrict unsafe material without reviewing all of it.
Security reports and vulnerability details should be sent privately and with enough information for us to reproduce and triage the issue. Do not access, copy, alter, delete, exfiltrate, disclose or publish data that is not yours. Do not run denial-of-service tests, social engineering, persistence, destructive payloads or public proof-of-concept disclosure without written permission.
Any score, audit output, AI output, quota estimate, vehicle/battery analysis, server health view, terminal output, footage report, export, diagnostic finding, security recommendation or compatibility statement is informational unless a separate written engagement expressly says otherwise. You remain responsible for human review, authorisation, backups, change control, legal compliance, third-party notices and operational decisions.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date when we do.
If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to users’ attention, such as updating the website, App Store metadata or in-app notices where appropriate.
Your continued use of Nodex after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Nodex and cancel any subscription through Apple.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that:
- consumers may rely on mandatory rights and bring claims in any courts where applicable consumer law gives them that right;
- Magrathean may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any jurisdiction to protect intellectual property, confidential information, security or systems;
- Apple’s mandatory App Store rules may apply to App Store purchases and subscriptions.
General legal terms
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any mandatory Apple terms, form the agreement between you and Magrathean for Nodex.
If any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in effect.
Magrathean may assign, transfer or novate these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets or corporate transaction. You may not assign your rights or obligations without Magrathean’s written consent, except where applicable law gives you a mandatory right to do so.
A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver.
Headings are for convenience only.
No person other than you, Magrathean and Apple to the extent described in these Terms has rights to enforce these Terms, except where the law requires otherwise.
Operational responsibility
You are responsible for the consequences of monitoring, diagnostic collection, service actions, container actions, command execution, exports, screenshots, widgets, Shortcuts, and any operational change made through Nodex or because of Nodex output.
Export and sanctions
You must comply with applicable export-control and sanctions laws. You must not use, export, re-export, transfer, or make Nodex available in violation of those laws or for prohibited users, destinations, or purposes.
